Faulty Keyboard ProblemsThe system supported was an old VAX
system with VT100 dumb terminals for the 800 users.
My partner, who
is actually a very shy guy, received a call from one of the older
ladies in the Finance department, her computer was beeping at her.
After a few questions he connected remotely to her screen and watched what was
happening and sure enough, she would start to type something and the
the cursor would race to the right, and the terminal would start
beeping.
He had no choice but to go up to the fourth floor and
investigate.
When he got there he powered off the terminal and then
asked this older lady to demonstrate the problem.
She sat back down and
started typing.
My shy partner immediately realized what the problem
was, in fact his hand involuntarily moved to correct the problem. Then
with ears burning and a bad case of stuttering he had to convey to this
lady that her rather ponderous breasts were lying on the space bar.
